Jon collects people's most traumatic experiences. To qualify, an experience must involve an element of fear or horror, and it must not be totally mundane: there has to be some element of the supernatural or magical.

Statements provide nourishment to the evil god which Jon is a part of, and he is driven to seek them like a vampire seeks blood. Jon can compel a victim to speak their Statement aloud, or he can rip it directly from their mind. (This does not harm their memory, but it does hurt.)

In the short-term after giving a Statement, the victim may experience seconds or minutes of disorientation and suggestibility, as though awakening from a dream.

In the long-term, the victim may feel constantly watched. They may suffer recurring nightmares of the Statement, with one addition: a dark figure watches the dream play out. He looks like Jon, except he's A̷̬̐͒Ḻ̷̳̠̑͋͠L̶͇̼̙̀̆ ̴̪̘̍̀͑E̴̠͈͙͑Y̸̥̟̜͗Ē̶͚̯̅̊S̷͕͎̤̋͒.
